Alumni or Employer Classroom Speaker Request
If you are a WashU faculty or staff member interested in hosting an alumni or employer to speak to your class, the CCE is happy to help you!
Please tell us more about your request by completing the form below. A member of the Academic & Campus Partnerships team will review the details you share and follow up soon.
Please note:
- If you are not a member of the WashU faculty or staff, please do not use this form.
- This process was designed to support those who wish to host a guest speaker as part of a course or other format in which the expected student attendance can be accurately estimated/assured.
- Before completing the request below, please confirm your desired date, time, and location. Our team will need this information before reaching out to recruit your speaker.
- To give ample time for alumni and employers to plan their schedules, requests made with less than three weeks of notice cannot be guaranteed. Please plan accordingly.
- Our busiest times for the fall are August - October and for the spring are January - early March. If you are requesting programming during this period, we will prioritize on a first come, first served basis.
- We acknowledge we may not be able to meet every requirement, but we will work hard to provide the best possible match based on the details you share here.
What will happen after I make this request?
After submitting this request form: You'll receive a follow up message from a member of our team to let you know your request is in progress and/or to collect additional details if necessary.
- After your details are confirmed: The CCE Employer Engagement team will reach out to their networks to recruit a speaker who meets as many of your preferences as possible and who is available during the date/time you've specified.
- Once a speaker has been identified: The CCE team member who has identified an alumni or employer speaker will send an email introduction between you and that speaker. This message will invite you to share any additional context or information you'd like your speaker to know. It will also ask the speaker to share a short bio, which may be helpful to you in introducing this person on the day of the engagement.
- Prior to the date of their visit: The CCE will provide your speaker with a campus map, directions to campus and parking information with a calendar invitation.
- On the day the speaker joins your class: Your speaker will receive directions to meet at the CCE office, and a member of our team will greet them, provide parking validation and escort them to your classroom or event space.
- After the speaker visit: The CCE will send a note of gratitude for the alumni/employer's time and participation. We will also send you a short survey about your experience with your guest and with this process overall.
